Obituary of Patricia E. Barton

Patricia E. Barton, a lifelong Peekskill resident, died November 30, 2014. She was 86. Born on March 16, 1928 to Patrick S. and Helen (Coleman) Clarkin, she spent her career as a first grade teacher in the Lakeland School District. She graduated from Assumption School, Peekskill High School (class of 1945) Good Counsel College and New York University. On July 7, 1984 she married Patrick K. Barton. He predeceased her in 2000. A lover of old movies and a world traveler, she had an indomitable spirit and was a superb conversationalist. She is survived by her brother Vincent H. Clarkin of Peekskill and her sister-in-law Madlyn Clarkin of Cortlandt Manor and her stepchildren; Siobhan Repko (Alan) of Danbury, CT; Patrick Barton of Suwanee, GA and Kevin Barton (Diane) of Garrison, NY; step grandchildren: Sean, Stephen, Staci, Aidan Claire, Matthew and Stephanie Barton and step daughter-in-law Sandra Barton. Stepson Brian Barton predeceased her. Other survivors include her many Clarkin nieces and nephews, Regina Clarkin and her great-nephew Desmond O’Leary with whom she lived, Gregory, Kevin and David Clarkin, Moira Clarkin Evans, Helene Chaisson, Thomas and Joseph Clarkin, Susan Kalata and Peggy Ercolino and numerous great nieces and nephews. Visiting today, Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption Church on Wednesday, 10am. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Religious Education Scholarship Fund of Holy Name of Mary Church, 114 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520.
