Joseph B. True, age 79, entered into eternal rest on April 15, 2018, in Fort Myers, Fl. Joe was a long time resident of Peekskill, NY. Born on Long Island to Bessie Marie Bunce and Harvey True. Loving stepson to Joseph Merle Wightman. Loving brother to Juliette, Georgia, Diane, and Elizabeth Ann. Loved by his deceased wife Betsy of 43 years. He is survived by his wife Karen of 11 years of Fort Myers, Fl and his children Christopher J. True and Jennifer, Linda A. Garnett and Wade, Pamela E. Goodwin and Peter and Timothy M. True and Maria. He is also survived by his grandchildren Nicholas, Trevor, Meghan, Caitlyn and husband Greg and daughter Penelope, Ryan, Daniel, Katelin, Aidan, Stefan and Marcus. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Joe was a retired Local 361 Ironworker who climbed tall buildings and bridges. He was an adventurer who traveled the world--first with the Army to Germany where he and his jeep escorted the 280mm canon known as Atomic Annie, and then by motorcycle and RV. He traveled more than 250,000 miles through 49 states and every province in Canada on motorcycle with his friends Donnie and Mike. He also went on motorcycle trips to New Zealand, Europe and to races in Laconia, NH, Daytona, FL and Sturges, SD. His last few years were spent traveling in his RV to visit family and friends in New York, Maryland and Minnesota. He balanced his love for travel with his love for family. He lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Sunday, April 22nd, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church 1836 E Main St, Mohegan Lake, NY on Monday at 11:00am Entombment to Follow at the Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St Mary's Episcopal Church, Mohegan Lake for the Betsy True Music Fund.
