Catherine Cozzi, a longtime Peekskill resident, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Victoria Home in Ossining. She was 96. Catherine worked as a Waitress in various restaurants in Westchester. She was born in Peekskill on June 19, 1918 to John and Angelina Ceconi Bosick. On June 27, 1937 she married Umberto Cozzi at Assumption Church. Mr. Cozzi died in 1978. During her lifetime she was a former member of the Christopher Columbus Society Ladies Auxilary. When the 500th Anniversary of the discovery of America was celebrated in 1992 she used her Seamstress talents to make the costumes worn by the Society’s parade participants. Mrs. Cozzi is survived by 3 daughters, Joan (Edward) Zegarelli, of the Finger Lakes Region, Linda Cozzi, of Briarcliff Manor, and Doreen (Wayne) Busse, of Peekskill; also a brother and a sister, John and Dolores Dimichele, as well as 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by a sister, Mary Marro, and a brother, Fred Dimichele. Her Funeral Mass is Thursday, October 9th at 11:30AM at Assumption Church, followed by Burial in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 8th from 3:30-7:30PM at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home.
