Salvatore A. Chiseri of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Peekskill, New York, passed away on September 16, 2011. He was 94 years old. Salvatore was born on February 18, 1917 in Hastings, New York to Michael and Carmela Paratore Chiseri. Most of his youth was spent living in Poughkeepsie. On April 24, 1938 he married Jennie Spinola at the Assumption Church in Peekskill. They lived in Peekskill until retiring to Florida in 1979.
Salvatore worked as a Boilermaker at the Croton Harmon Repair Shop and was later elected as General Chairman for the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Blacksmiths. Salvatore was a member of the Christopher Columbus Society of Peekskill and a volunteer with the Peekskill Little League. In Florida he became an avid golfer and was a member of the Delray Beach Golf Club and the Delray Beach Elks Club.
He is survived by his son Joseph Chiseri and daughter-in-law Cheryl Dozier; son-in-law Douglas Budde, Sr. and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Chiseri-Strater. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Katharine, Michael, and Nicholas Chiseri, Douglas Budde, Jr., Morgan Budde, and Tosca Chiseri and three great grandchildren: Maximilian and Mia Budde, and Travis Budde.
Mr. Chiseri was predeceased by his wife, Jennie Chiseri, daughter Sally Jean Budde and son Michael Chiseri. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Chiseri, Samuel Paretti, and his sister Rose Marchese.
Visitation is Monday, October 3, 2011 from 9:30am until 11:15am at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY.
Funeral Mass immediately following, 11:30am at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
