Obituary of Joanne Mary Salustri

Joanne Mary Salustri “Ski” entered into eternal rest after a gallant and courageous battle against cancer on November 4, 2010 surrounded by her family at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center . She was 55. Joanne was born to the late Stephen and Wanda Blicharski on January 20, 1955 in Queens, NY. In 1975 she graduated from the Westchester School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at St. Josephs Hospital in Yonkers until the birth of her first child in 1982. After raising her children, which was her greatest joy in life, Joanne returned to work and was employed by Happy Kids of Somers, NY. In October 1977 she married her loving husband David with whom she bore three children, Matthew, Andrew and Emily who survive. She is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth and Stephen, both of Garden City, NY and many nieces and nephews. A devoted loving wife and mother, a cherished sister, aunt and friend, her passing leaves a hugh void in the hearts of all who knew her. The family will hold a wake in remembrance of Joanne’s life at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY on Sunday November 7th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church, Shrub Oak, on Monday at 10am. Interment following at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor. Memorial contributions in Joanne’s name may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
