Obituary of George R. Basciani

George R. Basciani, age 70, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY died on July 26, 2017, after a struggle with Leukemia. George was born in the Bronx on June 5, 1947 to George J. and Mary Saccomano Basciani. George received a BS in Business from NYIT. After college graduation, he spent two years in the U.S. Army. After returning from overseas, he took graduate studies in economics at St. John’s University and also pursued courses and experience necessary to secure his MAI designation, as a real estate appraiser, which he worked as during his entire career. During his career, he was a partner in the appraisal firm McGrath, Basciani and Assoc. George was married to Sue Thomas in 1971, the mother of their children. Although divorced, they remained friends. Early in life George enjoyed hiking, fishing and tennis, and later in life enjoyed golf and was an avid reader. He said some of his best and most cherishing times were often spent with his son and daughter and his grandchildren. George was predeceased by his father. George is survived by his life-long loving partner Rosemary Sharpe. He is survived by his mother Mary Basciani, his son James Basciani, daughter Lauren Basciani (Jaye Kutka) and his grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Basciani (Linda), and sister Margaret Galuppo (Mike Aquilino). After cremation, honoring George’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Joseph F.
