Raymond J. Henderlong, born November 2, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Raymond Jacob and Garnet Irene (Myers) Henderlong passed away on Sunday, January 7th 2018. He married Jeanette DeRosso on October 2, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Peekskill.Raymond was a veteran of the United States Army Field Artillery, received a honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1947. He worked for Bantam Doubleday Dell Publishing Group in New York and retired as a Vice President in November 1992.He previously worked in Data processing at the New York Central Railroad in Detroit and New York and also at Olivetti Corporation in New York. Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church of Peekskill since 1954 where he served in many leadership positions, the last several years as an Elder. He was also a long term member of the Gideons International serving in many leadership positions. He is survived by his children, Raymond Paul (Michele) Henderlong of Ravenel, SC and Theresa (Joseph) Goc of Naperville, IL; grandchildren Stewart and Paul Gates, Raeann Henderlong; step-grandchildren Amanda (Alex) Hamner and Nicole Spellman; brother, Harold Henderlong and sister, Shirley (Mike) Sherman, all of Michigan; sister-in-law, Geraldine Henderlong of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, four brothers, Calvin, Manuel, Donald and Vernon Henderlong and sisters Norma McLellan and Betty Simmons. Calling hours will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Friday at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home. Funeral Service to be held Saturday, 10am at the First Baptist Church, Peekskill. Interment service Private.
