Obituary of Anthony M. Marino
Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anthony Michael Marino was born in Manhattan on October 13, 1933, first child of Michael Marino (who worked for the MTA) and Lillian (Tortorici) Marino (who was a seamstress for many prestigious designer houses). On April 30, 1955, Anthony married Kathryn Barboun, his next door neighbor whom he’d known since they both were 9 years old. Anthony and Kathryn had 3 children while living in the Bronx and in 1968 moved the family to the house Anthony built in Cortlandt Manor.
Anthony was a clever and resourceful problem-solver, able to fix anything and everything. In his early working years, Anthony owned and operated a TV store – repairing television sets back when TVs still had tubes. He later worked as a union plumber in numerous high-rises throughout Manhattan, most notably the addition and high rise to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and the Milstein Pavilion for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Anthony’s love of baking (and large quantities of it) was well known in the family and beyond. Anthony would bake birthday cakes for family members, and at Christmastime, Anthony and his sister Mary (Marino) LiCalsi would bake thousands of homemade cookies for family, friends, and others in the community. Those Christmas cookies were a special treat that many looked forward to year after year.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife Kathryn Marino, his daughters Lillian (Marino) Drumheller and Mary Kay Marino and his son Christopher Marino (spouse Christine Marino); his five grandchildren: Kristen (Drumheller) Fannin (spouse Nick Fannin), Carolyn Marino, Matthew Marino, Christopher Marino, and Diana Marino; his two great-grandchildren Lucas Fannin and Evelyn Fannin; his sister Mary (Marino) LiCalsi; his nephews Michael LiCalsi and Anthony LiCalsi (spouse Yoko LiCalsi); his great-niece May LiCalsi, his aunt Anna Tortorici, and several cousins. Anthony passed away on December 13, 2017, and will be missed by all his family and dear friends.
Visitation hours will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Nardone Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10am at St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor.
