Retired MSgt Donald Kovacs, 69, was called by our Lord in Heaven on June 24, 2017, in Cortlandt Manor, NY. Donald was born in Staten Island, NY to Geza (Gus) and Dorothy Kovacs on May 19, 1948. He went to school in Staten Island and graduated from Inter American University in Puerto Rico. He worked as a consultant in Project Management for various companies in the financial district of New York City. He proudly served 35 years in active Air Force, the Puerto Rican Air National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard and the New York Air National Guard. He participated in operations in the Gulf, East, West and North Africa, Turkey, Korea, Central America, South America and the Balkans. He received commendations for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Special Operations Commands, U.S. Navy Seals and U.S. Army Special Forces. He received Federal awards for Meritorious Service, Exemplary Behavior, National Defense Service. He tried to serve his country well.
Donald is survived by his wife, Rosemary, his son Christopher, his daughter, Heather and her husband, Kenneth Dubetsky, his sister Linda and her husband Charles O’Brien, his brother Kenneth and his wife Marilene, his mother, Dorothy and two grandchildren, Ashley and Ian Dubetsky. He is preceded in death by his father, Geza, and sister, Christine.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, July 1st, 2017, 10am at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural cemetery.
