Obituary of Martin B. O'Brien

Martin B. O’Brien of Peekskill, NY passed away on March 24, 2017. He was 79 years old. Mr. O’Brien worked for Con Edison for 41 years, retiring in 1999. He was born on April 24, 1937 in the Bronx to Martin and Mary McSherry O’Brien. He served honorably in the US Navy from 1954-1958. On August 30, 1958 Martin married Maureen McAneney at St. Joseph’s Church in the Bronx. Locally, he was a member of the Washington Engine Co. and the Elks Lodge 744. He was also a little league coach. Martin is survived by his wife Maureen O’Brien of Peekskill and three children; James (Chrystal) O’Brien of New Windsor, NY, Patricia (Douglas) Smith of Walden, NY and Maureen (Michael) Wood of Hopewell Junction, NY and seven grandchildren; Michelle and Nicole O’Brien, Stephanie and Matthew Smith, Sean, Jackie and Katie Wood. Also surviving is a brother, John (Dorothy) O’Brien of Monroe, NJ and a sister, Anne Flynn of the Bronx. Predeceased by a sister, Bridget Tucker. Visiting hours are Monday, March 27th from 4pm to 8pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, March 28th, 10am at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
