Words are enduring and my cousin Hilda and her family deserve some encouraging words. Patsy was blessed to have such a wife as Hilda and Hilda was blessed to have such a husband as Patsy. When I learned that my cousin Hilda moved closer to the nursing home where Patsy resided I was impressed with this ' love in action'. Actions speak louder than words. " If I speak with the tongues of men and angels and have all faith to move mountains and I don't have charity (love) I am become as sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal". Our generation and those that are coming up (including me) need to take notice of this for our own good.
Hilda, if more women in our nation were like you we'd have a better nation (as the women go so goes the nation). If more men in our nation were like Patsy ( husbands that stay with their wives and children) we'd have a better nation. ' Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people'. My Aunt Mary (Hilda's mom) was such a person. She loved her children Gordon, Eugene and Hilda so much that she would endure any amount of suffering to care for them. This is what made out nation great. Hilda, you made our nation great; Patsy you made our nation great. We thank you for that.
Behind every good man is a good woman. Patsy was a good man and his wife Hilda made him a better man. Our world should have more human beings like these two. No human being is really good, only God is good and we strive to be like Him (Jesus).
It is left to the living now to go back to our roots of God, family and nation. I look at the young people, your children and grandchildren Brett, Evan, Johnny, Jennie, Mariea (Rustin), Joey.(his two daughters). I do not know them but I feel like they are my own. The children are beautiful and they must stay that way through following Patsy and Hilda's example and even loving Jesus more so as the day seems to grow darker (will Jesus find faith on earth when he comes?).
Hilda, I speak to you because of the example you have set for us younger ones of faithfulness to one's spouse and family. I know you have suffered more than most people in our midst, more than me by far. Suffering through the trials and tribulations of life have a way of purifying us for greater works.
The Brown and Scelza famiIy I have been acquainted with as well as the Longhi's and Buda's ( that came over from Italy awhile ago) have been greatly blessed in America over the past few decades. I only hope and pray that they are not destroyed (spiritually) by the American dream. This dream void of the saviour of the world Jesus Christ will become a nightmare for our children and our children's children.
HIlda, keep on striving with your loved ones to be a matriarch of the family and to learn more through the Holy Scriptures about this Jesus who is able to save us and our loved ones from our adversary ( the devil). (yes, he is real but he is a defeated foe). He is after us, our families and our nation and world, but with God who can be against us? Please encourage your loved ones to read the Bible daily for in it is the saving of our souls and the world.
I've been blessed to know Patsy when I was younger. He has always had a glowing smile and wide-eyed expression of delight whenever I met him. He loved life to the fullest. I have been 'mia' for the past decade (and much longer) while he was in the nursing home and I have been praying for him for quite some time since I met you Hilda, when you came to visit my brother Jerry while he was in the hospital. It took me 8 years to finally visit him in Westchester Medical. Even though he could not speak he looked like the same person in appearance (with the same expression) as before. Hilda, you treated him with tender loving care (and the medical professionals).
Thank you Hilda for calling me and inviting Linda and me to the memorial and banquet. Be blessed in the mighty name of Jesus for only He is the way the truth and life.
In Jesus name.
Love, your cousin Robert
