Mama Hamilton
I am so glad I got a chance to meet you. We became friends when you joined Faith Temple COGIC. You were always there to help and give a word of encouragement. I loved to hear you sing. You sang from your soul and unto the Lord. Well now you are singing in his heavenly choir. We hadn’t talked much lately but we knew there was love between us. No more hospitals, no more pain. You will be missed by so many but you are now in a better place. Sleep now Mama Hamilton. God reached out His hand to you and said come on home. “Well done Myrtis, well done”

To the family and friends with thoughts of sympathy of our dear Myrtis, she surely will be missed. When you lose someone very precious, no one else can really know all that you feel. But please know that many caring thoughts are with you during this time.

I knew Myrtis for a very short time but want to express my condolences to her family. I knew Myrtis to be a very warm and caring person who was also very devoted to God. We spoke on the phone several times and the last time I saw her was at a friend's funeral. As we departed from the funeral home, she said to me, "Stella, I'll be calling you." "Please do," I responded but that call never happened as she soon fell ill and was in-and-out of the hospital multiple times. It is very sad to know she is no longer with us. She was a great and courageous lady. God bless and rest in peace Myrtis.

Dear friend, you and I go back to the 1990s, when I first moved to Peekskill. Roger, Ed, you and I shared many memories--both happy and sad. We had a deep, meaningful and loving relationship--we were always there for each other, just a phone call away. Over the years we lost so many people who were dear to us--your mom, Pearl, my mom, Lillian, Roger and my Ed, Victor, Ramona--all so important to us. Now I've lost you, Myrtis. My only consolation is that I know you were a woman of great faith and you are in Heaven, with all our loved ones and with God. Your beautiful voice has been silenced, but I will always remember how I felt when you sang "How Great Thou Art," and I will cherish that, and all my other memories of you.
The last time I saw you was in the nursing home, right before they locked everything down. We joked and laughed about moments we shared and you said you just wanted to make it to 80. I'm so, so sorry you didn't get your wish, and I'm sorry that I didn't have at least another decade of your friendship. At least we were able to talk on the phone, until you went into Hospice. I wish I could have been there to hold your hand, give you one last smile and kiss.
Dear Myrtis, I will hold you in my heart, pray for you and take some comfort knowing that I was privileged to share a friendship with such a wonderful person.
Your sister,
Diane

Myrtis, you helped me get my debut in the play “He will not Change “ by John Wilson . I always admired your ability to hit the right note , just maybe God needed someone to sing “I’m gonna walk around Heaven all day.” Love Classy/Vinette
