I am so sorry for your loss. In reading your tribute it brought back many memories of Gary. We were childhood friends, worked at the paper office together, delivered papers on Sunday mornings in our teens had countless laughs along the way. From pulling away from the paper office loaded with Sunday papers in his 1956 DeSoto, Gary said "Let's see if any cops are awake" as the office was next to Headquarters. He then revved it up, popped it into gear, and sheared the driveshaft from the rear end and laughed. He was also the one where on my 16th birthday he, John Lockhart (he had the car) skipped school and they drove me to Beacon to get my learner's permit. Those are just a few, there are too many adventures for two young street kids from Peekskill but we did manage to stay out of Jail. Again, my deepest sorrow for your family but from his tribute there are the many lives that he touched, he will never be forgotten.

Gary used to hang out at Ted's garage as well as our home. We lost our Mom at 41. 9 kids from 7yrs old -20yrs old. Mom would make tapioca and Gary reply always was fish eggs for dessert guys. The wake was a first with unknown knowledge for us. We were welcoming visitors trying so hard not to cry. Gary comes in the door big grin on is face (could see the tears he was trying to hide) Thanking us for giving him the honor of carry out our Mom. He turns to walk down the aisle the suit he had just brought because his collar shirt tag was sticking out on his neck and the suit tag was under his arm. Only Gary could make such a painful event turn funny by being himself. We lost touch over the years as people do. I am so happy to read that he never changed one thing that made him Gary. He will be dearly missed by everyone's life he touched. Thankfully he has left so many wonderful memories. Sorry for the loss. Hoping each of you have apart of him in you to continue his kindness. Kathleen, I just discovered this and I remember that time as well. He introduced me to Ted, and the free use of the lift at night when I needed to work on my car. Same here as we lost touch, I was glad to read that he stayed the same. The laughs and fun we had at that time in our lives I will remember always. He was definately one in a million

I’m so sorry for your loss Aunt Sue,Amy,Joe,Gary, and Jackson. Uncle Gary was one of the best people I’ve known. I don’t spend a lot of time with family but every time I went to something he always made me feel like I’d been there all along. He’d come up to me, ask how I’d been, if I think about it I can hear him. Hello lad how have ya been. It always make me think of an old Irishman.
Love you Uncle Gary.

I knew Gary long ago and everything that was said about him is so true. I still remember his laugh when I was having my son Danny and we lived in the same apartment building on Buttonwood Rd. I took one of the baby's shirts and put it in my husbands pocket. We went down to his apartment for drinks and my husband pulled the baby tee shirt out and said, "Gary look what Judy did to my t-shirt, she shrunk it!". OMG he laughed and laughed and when I had Danny he felt he had to be at the hospital everyday I was there! He couldn't make it one day an apologized and apologized. I said Gary you don't have to come every day. But, that was the kind of friend he was. My condolences to Sue and the kids. He was one of the good guys! Love forever, Judy Alimonti Brown.

Please accept my condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family of Gary Novak. I knew Gary through his brother Rich and wife Karen (Karen is my sister). I had the pleasure of meeting Gary a few times at family functions over the years. Always personable and friendly, Gary was such a giving person and a joy to be around. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. RIP, Gary. Maureen Kelley

Gary was one of the best friends to be around. He would always be there to lend you a hand, help drag a deer, have a beer with or teach your son how to ice fish(because you didn’t know how). It was always fun to go out to eat with him and a group of friends and order wings. We would always get the waitress to mix hot and mild wings and wait for the telltale sign. Gary’s head would turn red and start sweating, that’s how we knew he got a hot one. He would curse us and start laughing knowing we got him again. I will miss you and I’m proud to have called you my friend.

Gary and I were fishing late one night on Wiccopee Resevoir and after catching many Bass and consuming a few beers we called it a night and proceeded to come ashore with Gary sitting the rear of the boat. When we landed I jumped out and as I dragged the boat ashore rather abruptly Gary went head over heals bass ackwards into the water. He was submerged for four or five seconds before he came up. In that short period of time my life flew before my eyes, I knew he carried a pistol and would he come up shooting or smiling. He rose out of the water laughing away. That’s my pal Gary.

Gary was the most happy, friendly and funny guy I crossed paths with while working for the phone company. After I retired and moved to a mountain house in Colorado we kept in touch by e-mail. Knowing how much of an outdoors guy he was I would send him pictures of the wildlife right in my yard. Deer, moose, bear, mountain lion, fox and more. He said I should take up hunting but I was, just with my camera. So sorry to hear this news.

Fate whispered to the warrior “ you cannot withstand the storm” The warrior whispered back “ I am the storm”. ~Dickson This is how I will remember my friend Gary, the warrior. He was the warrior of goodness, compassion, kindness, generosity and someone who made the world a kinder place. Tonight I feel the world as being a little less without our warrior. He did however leave us the tools of a great warrior. We must carry on his life examples as this is how we will honor his legacy. RIP...so much love ❤️ Patti Gallo
