Obituary of Timothy John Murphy

Please share a memory of Timothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Timothy J. Murphy, a beloved member of our community who touched the lives of many.

Tim passed away peacefully at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family.

Tim lived a remarkable life filled with accomplishments, adventures, and a passion for music. He proudly served his country in Vietnam and continued his service as a dedicated employee at West Point until his retirement. A recipient of The Silver Star Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, and countless other accolades, Tim's love for his country was evident in everything he did, from his unwavering patriotism to his selfless willingness to help those in need.

When Tim wasn't busy with his professional life, he could be found strumming his guitar and sharing his love of music with others. He was a talented musician and his Irish roots shone through in his expressive and joyful performances. He was no stranger to filling the air with sounds of merriment (often that air was in his favorite local pub with several dozen of his closest friends).

An accomplished composer in his own right, Tim penned several songs in honor of those in service including The Wall, a tribute to his fallen brothers in Vietnam, and The Firefighter's Creed, honoring those who lay their lives on the line every day.

Tim was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Patricia, and a proud father to his son, Jason (Kim). He was also a doting grandfather to his grandson Ben, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride that he loved sharing with others.

Tim's passing is a great loss to our community, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, his love of music, and his unwavering commitment to his country. Rest in peace, Tim. You will be deeply missed.
