Obituary of Domenico Guglielmini

Please share a memory of Domenico to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Domenico “Mimmo” Guglielmini was born on July 19th, 1952 in Palermo, Italy. He passed away on November 8th, 2023 at the age of 71. He is survived by his two children, Tina Arroyo (Charles Jones-Fiancee) and Philip Guglielmini (Cheryl), and his four grandchildren, Aliyah, Jayden, Isabella, and Domenick. He is also survived by his five siblings, Carolina, Vincenza, Anna Maria, Franca, and Franco as well as his 9 Nieces and Nephews Fedele, Valeria, Mary, Daniella, Veronica, Maria Concetta, Antonia (Ninetta), Gabriella and Giuseppe, all of whom reside in Italy. His parents, Filippo and Concetta, have predeceased him.

Domenico, or “Mimmo” as he was known to his family and friends, had a diverse and fulfilling life. He served as a merchant marine in Italy for several years before immigrating to the United States when he was 27 years old. He settled in Astoria, Queens, where he worked and lived before meeting the love of his life, Anna Bruno, at the Act 3 Club on Gunhill Road in the Bronx in 1978. They were soon married on September 9th, 1979 at St. Raymond's Church.

Dominick’s life was filled with a love for family, travel, cooking, and sports. He and his wife Anna made the Bronx their home to start their family.

Domenico worked in construction and had a passion for traveling with his family. He cherished every opportunity to explore new places. Whether it was enjoying a private beach in Riverhead for jet skiing and clamming, or going upstate to go hunting and camping, or traveling to the Caribbean or Italy. His love for travel was deeply rooted in his desire to connect with his heritage and visit his home away from home.

Domenico also enjoyed reminiscing about his experiences as a merchant marine. He shared stories of the good times at sea while also acknowledging the challenges that came with that profession.  Despite their good and bad days at sea, Domenico had a deep appreciation and bond with the ocean. He was blessed to have traveled to places like Texas, Virginia, Canada, Germany, Croatia, Africa & Egypt during his time as a merchant marine.

In addition to his love for travel, Domenico was known for his exceptional cooking skills. His culinary expertise brought joy to those around him, and he took pride in sharing his delicious creations with family and friends.

In 1994, Domenico and Anna purchased their first home in Mohegan Lake, NY, located in Westchester County. This marked a significant milestone in their lives as they established roots in a new community to ensure a better life for their two children. Two Italian Immigrants who worked hard to achieve such an amazing goal truly showed what the American dream is all about. Tragically, Domenico became a widower in July 2016 when he lost his wife. Her absence left an irreplaceable void in his life, and he carried her memory with him every day.

Domenico was a true family man. No challenge was too big. If something was needed, he worked hard and got it. He instilled this in his children and it shows to this day. No matter how rough the sea of life gets, you shall sail forward and fight the storm.
