Obituary of Harold E. Weinborg
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Harold E. Weinborg, of Cortlandt Manor, NY.
Hal passed peacefully, surrounded by love and filled with faith on Saturday, March 16, 2024, he was 89 years of age.
Harold was born on May 30, 1934, in Silver Creek, New York to Wilbur Franklin and Dora Ann (Corbett).
He soon moved to Erie Pennsylvania then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
Upon returning home Harold found himself with his parents in Hawthorne, New York. He then went on to work for the Readers Digest in Mt. Kisco, New York as a Computer Programmer and that is where his life forever changed when he met the love of his life Loretta.
On November 28, 1959, they were married and began their journey residing in Verplanck, New York until they found and fell in love with what would become their "forever home" in Cortlandt Manor, New York.
Hal was a humble man, considered a man of few words, but full of life. He was an avid New York Mets, Jets, and Islanders fan, he was a proud member of the Hudson Valley Yacht Club, Hal enjoyed bowling, he was also a New York State Horseshoe Pitching Champion, an avid golfer, entrepreneur, and a master of the Irish Goodbye.
He was a true nature lover and enjoyed gardening, caring for (and often talking to) the birds, his fish, and his beloved ferrets, and would often feed the squirrels through his basement window.
Hal will forever leave his mark through the grass he planted throughout his neighborhood and the many lives he touched there.
Hal is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Loretta, his children; Mark, Karen, Michael, and Kristen; Children-in-law, Kathy and Russ, six grandchildren; Doug, Andy, Heidi, Kelly, Emily, and Aniella as well as his godson Doug Welch and his lifelong best friend Marty Silverstein.
Hal touched many lives and had the respect and admiration of so many friends and extended family because of the loyal and loving man he was.
If you knew Hal, you would understand.

A recording will be made available through the family of the Funeral Mass as well as the rendering of Military Honors, Flag Folding Ceremony, and Presentation of said flag to his beloved Loretta.
Hal would have protested anyone wearing Black to his funeral, as he brightened up everyone's day wherever and whenever he could.
"Once a Marine, always a Marine and while Hal's watch has ended here on earth we are comforted knowing we will see him again with understanding he is now reunited with those that have gone before him and is Resting Peacefully in Gods care, you will be missed but we know you will always be watching over us".
